Recorder in Pronexus VBVoice

I have created the same script as in CT ADE last time now in VBVoice enviroment producted by Pronexus. It is ActiveX product, so has to be integrated into some ActiveX enviroment. I've chosen MS Visual Studio.

Background:

The application is able to listen or record your own message depending on pressed digit. If press one, you'll listen the message saved on your HDD from last call, if press two, you'll record new message and the old one will be overwritten. Pressing zero terminates the call, another input is not valid and menu block will be repeated.

Used blocks:
  • 1x LineGroup block
  • 1x GetDigits block
  • 1x PlayGreetings block
  • 1x Record block
  • 1x OnHook block
Step by step:

First of all you have to add the Pronexus modules into some ActiveX enviroment. I've used Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003. When you open the Studio, choose New Project and open VBVoice Project.

On the left side the Toolbox will appear. You need to add Pronexus modules. So right click on the bottom side of Toolbox window and select "Add Tab". Call it e.g. Pronexus and click on it. It will expand the Pronexus modules, but it is empty except of "Pointer", because no modules has been added yet. Right click on free space in this window and select "Add/Remove Items". Select there all VBVoice components.

The enviroment is now ready to create a script which is very simple and done by using only five building blocks.

The first block is LineGroup which is placed automatically on the sheet by default. On the top left side of the block, there is a properties button. If you click on that, the properties window will appear. There you can set the Line Type, Channel Mode, rings before answer etc.

Because we need to check the pressed digits, we have to use block called GetDigit. In the properties window under the Routing flag we have to define of which digits we will take care. In our case it is 0,1 and 2. When you switch to the flag Terminations you can set max. number of pressed digit, max. silence or termination digits. Under the Greetings flag we can place some information prompts like here: "To listen to your message press one, to leave a message press two".

For the digit "1", we need to use PlayGreeting block. In this block you define what kind of voice file should be played. There are two possibilities: Wav file, which is classical voice file and can be played by many tools like Windows Media Player or .vap file which is a special file where are stored more voice messages.

For digit "2" we need to add Record block. In Setup flag it is quite useful to check off "Beep before recording" and the maximum time for recording. File name and record format is mandatory. In Greetings flag you can place there some information, like here "Speak after the tone".

The last block is called OnHook. There you can place some goodbye message. After that the call will be disconnected and the line will set up to the idle state.

Now we only have to connect the correct blocks together by easy drag and drop method. We now use the build function of Visual Studio and the script is done.
